The well-known adage, "Marriages are made in Heaven" means quite a few things to me.
First, it means that it is a sacred alliance between two individuals and has to be preserved for a lifetime. Unlike a business partnership, it should not be dissolved at any cost and the travails of living together must be endured for the lifetime.
Second, I believe that it is destiny that unites two individuals by marriage and one should not rationalize any provocation for separation with causes like incompatibility, etc… But try all the means to continue the unity through one's life.
Third, the institution of marriage is a 'heavenly' part of orderly existence and makes relationship an essential part of the living for human beings.
I am seventy-two years of age and after more than 40 years of marriage; I live with a sense of fulfillment. Marriages are made in Heaven and one should not break it through legal means.
